Pappya.com is a website that was started in July 2021. They specialize in fashion and clothing selling things like casual dresses and cardigans. I decided to check out this website after many people searched about it on ScamAdviser to make an informed decision if it is a legit or scam website.
On the about us page, the site claims to have been started over 10 years ago and has millions of clients. The text has a lot of similarities with other suspicious sites like Cayred which claim to be in the fashion business for over 10 years. This is hardly true as the website is less than one year old as per the domain registration information. We found this to be a tactic that most scammers use to try and gain the confidence of potential buyers.
When I looked at some of the products, they seemed to have a lot of similarities with many other sites. I found that there are hundreds of suspicious scam webshops, mostly from China that do this. This indicates that Pappya could be part of a large network of dubious scam stores with a strong connection with Chinese scammers.
Pappya.com has a Facebook account where they seem to be posting their products. The Facebook page was started in July 2021 further disputing claims that the store was opened over 10 years ago.
Most online shopping stores, do list their phone numbers where you can reach them in case something goes wrong. But with Pappya, they don’t list any phone numbers. Instead, they list an email address where you can write to them.
On the about us page, they list Pappya@pepymail.com as the email which you can use to reach them. But the domain is different from their main website and when I looked it up, I could not find anything with that name.
On the contact us page, they have listed yet another different email: pappya@prevomail.com. The domain is also different from the site and the domain cannot be reached.
We found this to be a common trait with what most scammers are doing. They list different emails with different domains but with the name of the store at the front. Reaching out to the store thus becomes very hard.
I found it suspicious that Pappya.com have not listed any physical location anywhere on their platforms. Though it's an online store, they should have at least listed their headquarters or the location of their factories. They have only listed that they are a US women’s online store which is not enough.
There is no telling if they are registered, and if so, where are they registered. I found that the site is highly suspicious and there is a likelihood it's part of a big syndicate of Chinese scam webshops. Be careful when purchasing products here.
