Zethalal.com is an online store that has been in operation since 4th March 2021. They sell a wide range of products from smartphones to men’s clothes to electronics. When it appeared on most searches on ScamAdviser, I decided to check it out and see if it is legit or a scam.
The store says they have headquarters in New Delhi, India. They even go ahead and list A-13, Janak Vihar, IARI Pusa Campus, New Delhi,110012 as their headquarters. When I searched the same on Info-Clipper, there was no mention of Zethalal.
Upon further research, I found out that the listed, I found the listed address is also used by many other suspicious websites. One website that caught my eye was sawdesi.com. Not only did it have the same address, but the general layout was very similar to Zethalal. There is a high likelihood that the sites are a part of a larger group of scammers from India.
In most cases, when online stores are selling similar products, they tend to give the same information but with different wording. But with Zethalal, I found the same content, duplicated word for word with other sites.
For instance, when I searched Infinix Hot 9 Pro (Quetzal Cyan, 64 GB) (4 GB RAM), I got the same exact information on Sawdesi.com.
In most cases, we usually see a lot of online stores having a strong social media presence to boost their sales. But with zethalal.com, there are no social media handles. I found social media buttons at the button of the home page, but they did not direct me to the social media handles.
Instead, they are share buttons that want you to share their information on your personal social media handles. I found this highly unusual especially considering they offer fast-moving products like electronics and clothes.
Zethalal.com offers contact information where you can reach them. They have a phone number listed there, but upon searching it on TrueCaller, the number is not listed in India.
If that’s not all, they have listed a Gmail account instead of a domain email. Most online stores will have an email that aligns with the domain of the website. It’s highly unlikely that a trusted online store uses a free Gmail account as the official email address.
Most of the characteristics of zethalal.com overlap with what we see with scams. They could be a part of a suspicious syndicate of Indian scammers. Be cautious when shopping on zethalal.com.
