Lady-coat is an online women’s clothing store that claims to be selling sweaters, bottoms, tops, dresses and more. The website has been registered in April 2020 and the registrant’s details such as name, location and contact details have been hidden for privacy.
The website looks quite low-quality as it contains sparse text and low-resolution images. The footer on the bottom of the page states ‘Powered By Shoplazza’, which suggests that Lady-coat may be a Chinese website. This is because Shoplazza is a Chinese counterpart of Shopify.
The quality of the images is poor, which is quite surprising for a fashion website. The reason for this seems to be that the images have been copied from other websites. Take the below example of the image of a sweater supposedly being sold by Lady-coat for $48.15. The original image seems to be a sweater created by fashion designer named Sid Neigum and would sell for no less than a few hundred dollars. The image on Lady-coat has been cropped to hide the model’s face.
Every few minutes on the website, an orange pop-up shows up about a ‘Special Offer’. This same pop-up has been observed on numerous other websites that have been suspected to be scams.
The About Us page of the website contains the following text:
offers fast fashion at the designer boutique quality. Our team of professional buyers identify all the latest fashion trends, at the same time examine every detail of product quality
This same text can be found on at least 79 other websites that may all be related to Lady-coat.
There page also contains the following company information:
Company Name Middle Bridge Ltd
Company Address:1010 Cambourne Business Park, Great Cambourne,Cambridge, CB22 6DP, United Kingdom
The address is also being used by at least 183 websites. The address itself is incomplete as it only points to a building. It is unknown whether an office or store is actually located there.
In totality, there are at least 255 websites related to Lady-coat. The full list is given at the end of the article.
The company that is apparently running these online stores, Middle Bridge Ltd., has been written about previously on blogs and in the press. It is allegedly a shell company registered in the UK to act as a front for a Chinese company that is actually operating hundreds of websites similar to Lady-coat.
We found that while the company is currently registered in the name of a British national named Kelly Nguyen, it previously had two Chinese nationals as Directors. It is also suspicious that the company has had three Directors despite being less than a year old. Therefore, it seems quite likely that Middle Bridge Ltd. is a shell company created to hide the workings of a Chinese company.
The Terms & Conditions page of the website mentions the name of a completely different website called OnceLady.com. This website was found to be using the same address and company name, thus confirming that the hundreds of websites we have found are indeed related.

Scamadviser Verification
The Scamadviser page of Lady-coat has not been claimed by the company.
The Contact Us page of the website provides the email ID of yet another website called Lioshirt.com. This further confirms that there are several other websites related to Lady-coat run by Middle Bridge Ltd.
Though there are social media pages mentioned on the website, it was found that there are three separate Facebook pages created to promote Lady-coat. Two of the pages were created in June 2020 and a third one was created in November 2020. Almost all the posts have ‘angry’ reactions, presumably from unhappy customers. The address given on these pages and the page information provides confirmation that Lady-coat is indeed operated from China. The page admins are shown to be from China and Pakistan.
All the pages are running ads on Facebook and Instagram, which indicates that most of Lady-coat’s website traffic comes from social media advertisements.
There are only two reviews available for Lady-coat at the time of writing this article. Both the reviews are negative and express the same complaints related to Middle Bridge Ltd.’s websites mentioned in other places. Customers have complained about late delivery, false advertising, inferior products and poor customer service.
There is an extremely high likelihood that Lady-coat is a scam.
It has a Trust Score of 1% on Scamadviser, indicating that it is exceptionally risky to shop on this website. You can read more about Lady-coat’s Trust Score here.
The website is of very low quality and seems to be operated by Middle Bridge Ltd. which is allegedly a UK shell company with Chinese owners. There seem to be at least 255 websites that are operated by this company. There seems to be some evidence suggesting that Lady-coat and the related 255 websites are actually run by a Chinese company that is trying to mislead customers into believing that it is based in the UK.
The images on the website seem to have been copied from real fashion designers. The only contact method provided is an email ID which is of a different website called Lioshirt. The Terms & Conditions page also mentions the name of another website called OnceLady. These facts confirm that there are several other websites related to Lady-coat.
The main source of traffic to the website seems to be ads on Facebook and Instagram. Lady-coat is running ads on these platforms using three different Facebook pages.
Customers of Lady-coat have complained that they received products after long delays of up to two months. They have stated that products were shipped from China and do not resemble the items shown in the advertisements. Attempts to contact customer services have apparently gone unanswered and there does not seem to be a way to get a refund from the company. It is advisable to avoid shopping on Lady-coat and the related 255 websites, as they do not seem to be genuine stores.
Lady-coat is one among countless e-commerce stores that originate from China but try to pass themselves off as being based in North America or Europe. It is important to exercise caution when shopping online to avoid losing your money or ending up unhappy with your purchase.
