Is Hipbel.com a Scam or Legit? | Website Review

Hipbel is a website that claims to offer women’s clothing items at low prices. The website has consistently been among the most-searched websites on Scamadviser.com. Therefore, we have done an in-depth review for the benefit of our users.

Hipbel is an online store that claims to be selling women’s clothing items such as tops, jackets, dresses, skirts, shoes, jewellery and more. The domain name was registered in September 2020. The registrant’s details such as name, location and contact details have not been provided. This means that the website is being operated anonymously.

The site itself does not look impressive, as the same generic design is used by countless Chinese ecommerce stores. The website is targeting Spanish-speaking audiences judging by the website language. There are at least two websites operating under the ‘Hipbel’ name. However, both are identical in every way.

The products being sold on the website look a bit fishy, as they are edited images that do not show the actual products.

Additionally, the products being sold by Hipbel can also be found on numerous other webshops. Many of these sites use the same design as Hipbel, which is the first indication that they might be related in some way. Further, some of these sites such as Airycloth have earlier been found to have a high likelihood of being scams.

The textual content on the website is not original either. There are at least 46 other websites that are using the same text. The names of these websites are given at the end of the article in the ‘Appendix’ section. We analyzed the IP addresses of these websites and found that 30 out of 38 websites (78.9%) have shared or neighbouring IP addresses. This implies that they are operated by the same company.

Another link between Hipbel and suspicious websites is revealed on the Terms & Conditions page. This page mentions that the page is operated by ChicV Ltd. which is likely to be a UK shell company set up by Chinese owners. You can know more about ChicV Ltd. in our review of Pearclo. Hipbel’s website provides the same details, which clearly shows that it has connections to untrustworthy websites.

Scamadviser Verification

The Scamadviser page of Hipbel has not been claimed by the company.

The only contact detail provided by Hipbel is an email address. The Contact Us page of the website only contains a contact form. The email address was found on the Shipping & Delivery page after searching. No phone number or address is mentioned, except the address of ChicV UK Ltd which is specified as not being a return address. No return address has been provided.

Though no social media pages are mentioned on the website itself, I found that there are 6 different Facebook pages that have been set up to promote hipbel.com and hipbel.net. It is extremely odd that there would be multiple Facebook pages for the same website.

Two of these pages were found to be running ads. The page information also shows the pages are being operated from locations such as Bangladesh and Macau. Therefore, it does not seem that the website is operated by a UK-based company as it has been stated on the website.

Conclusion

There is an extremely high likelihood that Hipbel is a scam.

It has a Trust Score of 1% on Scamadviser, indicating that it is exceptionally risky to shop on this website. You can read more about Hipbel’s Trust Score here.

The products being sold by Hipbel can be found on several other websites, most of which look like dubious Chinese online stores. The images of the products themselves are fake, as they are images of clothing designs edited onto templates of models. This means that the images don’t actually show the clothing being worn by models.

The text used on the website is not original either, as the same can be found on at least 46 other websites. 78.9% of these websites look like they are operated by the same company. The content on Hipbel’s website also establishes a connection between it and websites such as Airycloth and Pearclo, which have been found to be risky to shop on.

The website states that Hipbel is operated by ChicV UK Ltd., which has been alleged to be a shell company set up from China. The same company also operates hundreds of other websites, most of which are considered to be untrustworthy.

The only contact method provided by Hipbel is an email ID. There is no phone number mentioned and the UK address of ChicV UK that has been given is specified as not being a return address.

All the reviews that are available for Hipbel are from unhappy customers. Complaints include misleading advertising, delayed or no delivery and poor customer service. It is advisable to avoid shopping on Hipbel or any of ChicV Ltd.’s other websites, as they do not seem to be genuine stores.
