Gicibady.com is an online store that has a lot of products ranging from toys to board games to skin care products. However, are they legit or a scam? Let’s dive right in, shall we?
In recent years, there has been an influx of scams that use the same content across multiple websites. With this in mind, we searched for this phrase we found on their “About Us” page: we love every passion and interest on Earth because it is a reference to your UNIQUENESS. And to spread exactly that...is our core vision.
Interestingly, the same phrase appears on thousands of other dubious websites, some of which we have reviewed in the past such as Fabricatea.com. This also points out Gicibady.com being a part of the ‘Uniqueness’ scam network which is a huge network of over 12,000 scam websites from China. On the website, they list Supic Company Ltd. as the owner of the site. Interestingly, the part where they have listed the company is in the form of a picture, which makes it harder for customers to do a background check.
Once you search about Supic Company Ltd., you start to notice a pattern. For starters, the company is registered in the UK, one of the easiest places to open a company as there is no verification. Secondly, the company is owned by a Chinese national which raises further suspicion that Gicibady may be part of a Chinese scam network.
Lastly, Supic Company Ltd. is also claimed by many other dubious websites such as Reahly.shop. Using a shell company is the go-to move of scammers to hide their real identity of the scammers.
On ScamAdviser, Gicibady has an overall rating of 1 star with some of the customers claiming that they never got any communication from the company even after emailing them twice and on different email addresses.
The customer also goes on to mention that they were charged much more than the listed prices. I could not find other reviews about the site despite it being a few months old.
I noticed that Gicibady is using some high-pressure sales tactics on its website. For instance, if you click on any product, they start a timer to pressure you into committing to making a purchase. There is also a pop-up message claiming a certain customer has recently made a purchase of the item.
This sort of high-pressure sales tactic is common with scammers and targets impulse buyers and bargain hunters. Lastly, I noticed that most of the products have huge discounts, with some having as much as 50% off. Though there is nothing wrong with offering discounts, it raises a few eyebrows when a majority of the products are discounted.
Overall, we have doubts about the legitimacy of Gicibady.com. There are too many red flags that are simply too big to ignore. For starters, the site seems to use similar content to other dubious websites. They also list a company, Supic Company Ltd, which is also claimed by many other websites which raises suspicion that they are part of a Chinese scam network we refer to as the ‘Uniqueness Scam Network.’
Customer reviews are negative with customers complaining of being charged extra and never being able to get in touch with the company. We noticed that most of the products listed have huge discounts, which is very unusual.. They also use high-pressure sales tactics which are synonymous with scam websites.
In general, caution should be exercised when shopping at Gicibady.com. There are more reputable and reliable online marketplaces out there.
