Is FreyaTreasures.com a Scam or Legit? | Website Review

FreyaTreasures is a website that claims to be selling women’s jewellery. The website has consistently been among the most-searched websites on Scamadviser.com. Therefore, we have done an in-depth review for the benefit of our users.

FreyaTreasures is an online jewellery store that claims to be selling items such as necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings and more. The website has been registered in October 2018 and the registrant’s details such as name, location and contact details are hidden for privacy. The website has an Alexa rank of more than 2 million, suggesting that it is not very popular. The traffic data, too, suggests that the website does not get many visitors and has been active only since early 2019.

Though the content on the website does not seem to be copied, the same products being sold by FreyaTreasures can be found on AliExpress. The price difference is as high as 97%. This signals that FreyaTreasures could be a dropshipping company that sources products from China. The brand selling these products is named Yhpup and the same name can be seen on the images on FreyaTreasures’ website.

The ‘Terms & Conditions' page states that FreyaTreasures is a Shopify store and the ‘Shipping’ states that products are mailed separately. These facts lend credibility to the theory that FreyaTreasures is simply a dropshipping store that acts as a middleman to sell Chinese products at a markup.

The About Us page of the website says that the products are handmade and designed by a person named Ismael n’Taha. This does not seem to be true considering that FreyaTreasures looks like it is sourcing products from third-party vendors in China.

An interesting part of the website is the ‘Ambassadors Program’ page which states that anyone can sign up and get paid to promote FreyaTreasures’ products on social media, regardless of how many followers they have. It says that ambassadors can get featured on the website, however, not a single ambassador has actually been featured. No specifics about the program are mentioned here and the page instead tells the reader to DM the company.

The Scamadviser page of FreyaTreasure has not been claimed by the company.

The website footer provides a company registration number. Though the domain name has been registered more than two years ago, the company FreyaTreasures Limited has only been incorporated on 1st December 2020. The company Director is listed as a Moroccan national named Aboudia Taha. This name is similar to the name Ismael n’Taha mentioned on the website’s About Us page.

The only social media link provided is an Instagram profile. However, this profile does not seem to exist anymore.

The contact details provided on the website are an email ID, phone number and address. From these, only the email ID could be verified to be working. The location provided is a street address and it is unknown whether FreyaTreasures has a physical presence there. The phone provider is Buzz Networks, which could mean that it is a virtual number. This would mean that FreyaTreasures is not actually based out of London and FreyaTreasures Limited is a shell incorporation.

User Reviews

Despite the website being active for around two years, there are very few reviews available for FreyaTreasures. The reviews are overwhelmingly negative and allege that the only way the company sells its products is by approaching people to be an ambassador. Those who agree are asked to pay a $29 shipping fee to receive the ‘free’ products. As the products seem to only cost around $3 on AliExpress, this would still generate a considerable profit.

The reviewers have stated that the products are falsely advertised as they are plastic products and not gold-plated as mentioned on the website. Multiple reviewers have also mentioned that some of the items they ordered were missing. You can read the reviews of FreyaTreasures here.

Conclusion

There is a high likelihood that FreyaTreasures might be a scam.

It has a Trust Score of 15% on Scamadviser, indicating that it is considerably risky to shop on this website. You can read more about FreyaTreasures’ Trust Score here.

While the About Us page of the website claims that the products are hand-made and designed by a person named Ismael n’Taha, there is reason to believe that FreyaTreasures is actually a dropshipping operation that sells Chinese products at markups as high as 97%.

Some reviewers have also stated that the company's real method of generating sales is to approach users on social media and ask them to join the Ambassador Program. Those who agree are promised ‘free’ products for a shipping fee of $29. As the company has extremely high markups on the products, this may still be extremely profitable.

Though the company registration information provided is valid, it was found that the company has only been incorporated on 1st December 2020, despite the website being active since at least early-2019. The address provided could not be verified as being the actual location of FreyaTreasures’ office or store. The phone number seems to be a virtual number that can be operated from anywhere in the world. Therefore, it is likely that FreyaTreasures is not really a UK-based company.

The only social media profile mentioned on the website is an Instagram profile that is no longer active. The reviews that are available are exclusively negative and there are very few considering the website’s age. Complaints include false advertising, missing items and products being shipped from China without prior disclosure. It is advisable to avoid shopping on FreyaTreasures, as there is a fair chance of having a bad shopping experience.
