Is Cutee.store a Scam or Legit? | Website Review

Cutee is a website that claims to be selling ‘mystery boxes’ containing products from ‘unclaimed packages’ from major chains such as Amazon. It has consistently been among the most-searched websites on Scamadviser.com. Therefore, we have done an in-depth review for the benefit of our users.

Cutee is an online store that claims to be selling ‘mystery boxes’ containing goods from clearance sales and ‘unclaimed packages’. The website is of extremely low quality and is quite new as it has been created only in January 2021. Despite this, the website has a considerably high Alexa rank, which means that it is somewhat popular.

The prices of the website are simply too good to be true. For example, they offer a mystery box containing ‘1-7 drones’ for just $69.99. However, they have used images of drones that cost hundreds of dollars lifted from various sources, including news articles.

This is an extremely strong indication of a potential scam, which is amplified by the fact that the Cutee is a Chinese website as per the domain registration data. Another hint that Cutee is a Chinese operation is the fact that it is hosted on Shoplazza, which is the Chinese equivalent of Shopify.

The content on the ‘About Us’ page is a variation of the text used by an enormous Chinese scam network called the ‘Uniqueness Scam Network’ spanning across hundreds of dubious websites. Our Domain Analyzer revealed that this particular variation of the text is also used on at least 197 websites, all of which may be scams. The list is given in the ‘Appendix’ section at the end of the article.

Analysis of the websites suggests that they are indeed part of a larger network as 75 out of 94 (75.78%) websites tested have shared IP addresses. The websites have an average Trust Score of 24.6 out of 100 and an average Review Score of 0.1 out of 5. These are incredibly bad scores that highlight that Cutee is in extremely bad company.

Most of the websites have been created within the last year which indicates that they are disposable and will most likely be purged in a few months.

Oddly, payment by PayPal did not work when I tested it, as the site kept giving the message ‘Pay failed’.

Scamadviser Verification

The Scamadviser page of Cutee has not been claimed by the company.

Cutee provides absolutely no company or contact information except for an email ID originating from a completely different domain called vipcservice.com. This website itself does not exist.

There is no company name, phone number or address provided. Therefore, the only way to contact Cutee is by email. There is also no indication that Cutee is a Chinese operation, which can be seen as an attempt to deliberately mislead Western consumers.

Though no social media profiles have been mentioned on the website, I found that two separate Facebook pages have been created for Cutee on 4th January 2021. Not only is it strange for a brand to create multiple Facebook pages, both the pages contain fake information and are also being used to run ads. This explains how such a new website can gain considerable popularity in a short time. They are blasting ads on social media to drive traffic to Cutee.

These pages also provide a Gmail ID for customer support that is not given on the website.

facebook-4-1e816.PNG a:0:{}
facebook-5-31e07.PNG a:0:{}
facebook-6-29d29.PNG a:0:{}

There is also a clear indication that the pages are being run from China. The data also shows that there are page admins from places such as Brazil and Malaysia, but my guess is that this is intentional disinformation to hide Cutee’s Chinese origin.

User Reviews

There are several reviews available for Cutee on Scamadviser and TrustPilot, with all of them being negative. Customers have echoed the same complaints that we have seen with the Uniqueness Scam Network, such as false advertising, no or late delivery, substandard products, poor customer service and refusal to provide refunds.

Customers have stated in their reviews that instead of receiving mystery boxes, they received low-quality dollar store items that were shipped from China. They have also mentioned a company name - Zi’an Technology Co. - which is probably a shell company.

Important Tip

Some of the customers have mentioned a common trick that is used by scammers to avoid giving a full refund. They demand that the customer ship the item back to China at their own expense, which can cost more than the product itself. However, PayPal will issue a full refund if you refuse to ship the item back stating that it is not what you ordered and that the items were never disclosed as being shipped from China.

Conclusion

There is an extremely high likelihood that Cutee might be a scam.

It has a Trust Score of 1% on Scamadviser, indicating that it is exceptionally risky to shop on this website. You can read more about Cutee’s Trust Score here.

Cutee is a new website that was created in January 2021 and is being run from China, which is a high risk country for scams. There is no disclosure regarding this on the website itself, which is the first red flag.

The website is using images copied from various websites and claims to be selling mystery boxes full of electronics at rock-bottom prices. Customers have stated in reviews that they received cheap dollar store items instead. These products were shipped from China by a company called Zi’an Technology Co. and Cutee only offered them partial refunds even though the products they were sent were clearly not what they had ordered. To obtain a full refund, Cutee asks customers to ship items back to China at their own expense.

Our analysis reveals that Cutee appears to be part of the Uniqueness scam network of hundreds of shady online stores. The text used on the About Us page is a variation of the content used by sites in the Uniqueness Scam Network. The variation itself is being used by at least 197 other websites that have extremely low Trust Score and Review Scores. Therefore, Cutee is likely to be part of an organized network of scam websites.

Another strange observation is that Cutee has two separate Facebook pages created on the same day and none of them are linked on the website. Both these websites are running ads on Facebook and the page data shows that they are indeed operated from China.

It is not wise to shop on Cutee.store or any of the 197 related websites, as they do not seem to be genuine stores.
