Let’s face it, scams are getting complex, and detecting them can be a real hustle. At ScamAdviser, we are dedicated to providing you with the relevant information to avoid scammers. In recent weeks, we have noticed one site has been quite popular on our platform, Cozeyhouse.com.
Cozeyhouse.com is an online store that sells products like robes, nightgowns, and pajamas. However, are they legit or a scam? Join us in this in-depth review as we discuss everything there is to know about this website.
One of the first things I noticed is their claim to offer huge discounts, but a closer look reveals that these discounts may come with certain conditions. While they proudly state they offer as much as 50% off, it's essential to read the fine print. In many cases, achieving this maximum discount requires customers to buy a certain quantity of items or spend a specific amount. For instance, they claim, 10% OFF 2nd item, 20% OFF 3rd item, 30% OFF 4th item, and so on.
This tactic may lead unsuspecting buyers to make additional purchases, thinking they are saving more money when, in reality, they are spending more than originally intended.
Furthermore, the website employs high-pressure sales tactics to encourage swift decision-making. A pop-up frequently appears, asserting that a recent customer has purchased the exact product you are considering. This creates a sense of urgency and social proof, aiming to pressure potential buyers into making a hasty decision.
If you buy a defective product, or one you don’t like, chances are you will be stuck with it. This is thanks to their complicated return policy which states that customers are responsible for return shipping costs.
Considering the website's probable location in China, the likelihood of successfully returning a purchased item, such as a "Women's bathroom shoe" priced at $9.99, diminishes. Ultimately, this scenario may leave you with no choice but to keep the defective or damaged product, aligning with their primary objective. This is a common tactic used by scammers which is why they include a complex return policy.
On their website, I noticed they have social media buttons upon which, when visited, raised more questions than answers. The Facebook page, with close to 3k followers was registered in 2018, 4 years earlier than the website registration date, December 2022 according to Whois Lookup and ScamAdviser.
This caught my eye and prompted further investigation into their Facebook page. Turns out that the page was first known as “Ramai Mall Jogja” before changing the name in February 2023.
This was likely a warm-up account, which was probably started with the sole aim of selling to businesses in the future. It goes against Facebook policies but it's common with shady businesses. They do this as it makes them more believable as customers will assume they have been running for a long time.
Overall, we have doubts about the legitimacy of Cozeyhouse.com. From the huge discounts and the high-pressure sales tactics to the complex return policy and questionable Facebook page, there is a need for caution when dealing with Cozeyhouse.com.
