Football is a very popular sport with millions around the world following it. But football betting sites have also become a rich hunting ground for many scammers. When 86w appeared as one of the most searched sites on ScamAdviser, I was curious about what they do. I decided to check it out and see if it's a legit business or a fraud.
When I clicked on the home page, there was nothing much happening on it. Only a bar code appeared that you can scan to download the app. I found this strange as most sites will direct you to popular download sites like Apple Store or Google play store.
When I tried searching “86w” on Google Play or Apple Store, I could not find the app. This is very suspicious as most legit apps will not have a problem with following Google or Apple’s strict measures. Apps on Google or Apple Store are required to identify themselves and the kind of business they are involved in as this wins consumers’ confidence. The fact that 86w is missing in both and that they don’t provide enough information is very telling. They seem to push people into downloading the app without offering enough information.
On the home page in the desktop version, they only provide the download links. When I searched the same site on my mobile phone, I got a bit more information. But I could not get past the initial registration phase.
The website has a dropdown that shows the countries they operate in including Nigeria, the US, Ireland, Australia, Canada, Kenya & Singapore.
They don’t provide much information though and even when you click on the Rule description button, you are only redirected to the home page.
I could not find any social media presence despite the fact that the domain was registered in 2000, according to ScamAdviser. Subsequently, I could not find customer reviews on ScamAdviser but on TrustPilot, the site had 3.3 stars.
In short, we doubt the legitimacy of 86w.com. The relevant contact information is missing and the app is not available on Google Play Store or Apple Store. Be careful when installing apps from outside the Google Play Store or Apple Store as such apps have lifely failed to comply with legal and security standards.
