How to Scam Online: Beginner’s Guide for Scammers

This article is satire. ScamAdviser does not support online scams or scammers.

If you need a helping hand to know how you can start running online scams successfully, you are at the right place. In this article, we will guide you in picking the right internet companies that support scammers in evading consequences.

Online scams operating through websites are extremely popular right now. An estimated $47.8 Billion was lost to scams in 2020, showing that online scams are a lucrative business. Creating a scam website is an investment and you need to make sure that your investment does not go down the drain due to the website being suspended. Luckily for you, we know which companies are supporting scammers the most. You can use this information to protect your investment and make profits from online scams for years to come.

Domain Registry

You may have heard of “.com”, “.net” and “.org”. Each of these domain extensions is controlled by a Domain Registry. While these three are unsurprisingly the most popular registry with scammers, “.xyz”, “.shop”, “.top”,  “.site” and “.online” are up-and-comers that a lot of scammers are using. As these registries have no KYC processes, you can register your domain with zero risk of getting caught if your scam is exposed.

Domain Registrar

Picking the right domain registrar is one of the most important steps for creating a scam website that will never be taken down. Many big registrars nowadays provide low-cost domain names that come with free privacy guards. They also have lax or non-existent KYC processes which help hide your identity so that no one can hold you accountable for your scams.

GoDaddy, Namecheap and PublicDomainRegistry are three of the top domain registrars for hosting scammy websites. Alibaba Cloud Computing Ltd. also gets an honourable mention for registering the highest percentage of low-score websites when compared with other companies.

Hosting Company

A domain registrar who will support your scam is not enough. You also need to ensure that you pick a website hosting company that will shirk all responsibility for allowing your scam website to operate on its servers. Website Hosts have the authority to suspend websites that are reported as being malicious or fraudulent. However, scammers are customers too and the Host has a financial motivation to keep your website up and running. Picking the right Host will ensure that your scam victims run around in circles and ultimately fail in taking down your website.

Hosts do this by demanding a mountain of proof from victims that they have been scammed, even going so far as asking them to file court orders. On the flip side, you as a scammer do not have to provide any proof that you are legitimate before setting up the website. You can host multiple websites at once so that you have scams still operating in the rare event that one of your websites is taken down by the Host.

If you are planning to run a shopping scam, Shopify is a good place to start. They provide a free hosting plan that allows you to set up (scam) shop at no cost, which means all the money you steal is pure profit. Their paid plans are also pocket-friendly which will help you maintain a healthy profit margin from defrauding customers.

Apart from Spotify, Google, Amazon Technologies and Namecheap are your best bets to host a scam website that stays up for months or even years. Namecheap especially stands out due to the high percentage of scammy websites it hosts.

There are other aspects to running a thriving online scam business. For example, you need to pick a payment provider who will support you (PayPal is popular) and an advertising platform to promote your scams (Facebook will happily take your money). However, the crux of most online scams is a website and choosing the right Registry, Registrar and Host will go a long way in helping you establish a successful scamming career.
