Action Fraud is the UK’s national fraud reporting centre. It gathers intelligence and hands it over to National Fraud Intelligence Bureau for analysis and action.
If you experience a scam, notice fraudulent behavior or have a brush with cybercrime, then you should report it online to ActionFraud.
Here’s how you can do it:
Open https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/ then select the option that best describes you in reporting this fraud:
You will be required to log in or sign up if you have no existing account with ActionFraud.
Click Next.
Select appropriately the option that best relates to the fraud:
Click Next.
Choosing any of the above options leads you to the next page to fill in further information about you: your name, contact details, and biodata.
You will also be asked to give permission that your information can be passed to relevant authorities.
Once you click Next a pop-up window appears which you can ignore and continue with your reporting.
Here you key in:
Then click Next.
You will be required to state whether the suspect is an individual or a company and key in some information you have on them.
Then select the payment method used, if any.
Click Next.
Add any other details you may have into the text box.
Click Next.
At this point, you get to see all the details you have filled so far, countercheck that all is in order, then click submit.
Once you do, you will get a reference number for your report.
Action Fraud will then email you to confirm that your report is received.
