The convenience that comes with online shopping is what makes it very appealing to many. But sadly, online shopping has also become a rich hunting ground for scammers. So, when many people searched for fatachic.com on ScamAdviser, I decided to check it out and see if it's legit or a scam.Fatachic is stocked with many women's clothes with sections of dresses, tops, jumpsuits, and more.
On the about us page, Fatachic does not necessarily describe what they are all about. Instead, they go out of their way to explain how diverse and inclusive they are.
I ran a search for the below snippet from their About Us page:,
“we believe in the power of people to make meaningful change. Our mission is to be a leader in building a diverse, inclusive team and culture.”
I got another site, “NET‑A‑PORTER,” which uses the same line. In fact, a closer look shows most of the about us section of both sites are similar, word by word.
This is a common trick by most scammers who use the same content repeatedly on different sites.
The location of a store is crucial as it helps build the users' confidence. The Fatachic page lists their address as ‘111C, 7th Floor, Hekou Market Complex, Yangtoukou, Chating Street, Taijiang District, Fuzhou City, Fujian.’
But I could not find the address on Google Maps.
The Terms and Conditions page states that the site is “governed by and will be construed in accordance with the laws of Cyprus.” I found this confusing as the site also claims to be from China, so being governed by the laws of Cyprus was confusing.
Usually, when a customer receives a defective, damaged, or wrong product, it’s only fair that they get to return the product. Fatachic seems to be making it harder for customers to return the product as the customer has to pay for the shipping costs.
This is a common trick used by most Chinese scammers as they wish to deter customers from returning the products and instead settle for a partial refund.
Given that we are in a digital age, it's only fair to expect an online store to have a social media presence. But I could not find anything related to Fatachic on any social media platform.
On top of that, I could also not get any customer reviews about any of the products on the site.
Overall, we doubt the legitimacy of fatachic.com. There are a lot of characteristics that overlap with what we see with other scams. Buyers should be cautious while shopping here.
