With millions losing money to scams all over the world, you can understand why people are taking extra precautions to stay safe online. Online shopping continues to be one of the most common types of scams and people are always checking ScamAdviser for more information. When electrodoom.com was among the most-searched sites, we decided to take a look and see if it's a legit site or a scam.
As the name suggests, Electrodoom is an online store that focuses on electronic appliances from TV screens to electronic scooters to washing machines.
In most cases, the older a website, the more likely it is to be legit. Don’t get us wrong, new websites can also be legit but most dubious sites are new. On top of this, the older a site is, the more information is available online for our systems to analyze. But new websites tend to have limited information which makes it harder to draw a conclusive analysis.
When we checked on Whois.com, we found that electrodoom.com only started in March 2022. The site is a few months old and though this does not mean it's a scam, it does not help build users’ confidence.
New websites also have a few reviews as compared to older sites as there are not many customers yet. With electrodoom.com, there were a few reviews we found on ScamAdviser and they were mostly negative with an overall rating of 1 star.
One customer complained that they have not received their ordered item and efforts to reach customer service were futile. This is echoed by another reviewer who claims to have even filed a complaint with the police.
We could not find reviews on other reliable sites like MyWot or Trustpilot.
Usually, when you get a defective or damaged product from an online store, the only sensible thing is to return the product. But Electrodoom seems to be making it harder for people to do this as they require people to pay for the shipping costs.
This seems like a deliberate move to make it harder for customers to return the product In some cases, returning the item costs more than the actual product, making the return non-economical. This is a common trick used by scammers who ship defective, below-par products and hope the return costs will keep people from returning the products.
On the website, they claim to be located at 14 Alfredo Mira Gran Street, 03202 Elche, Alicante, Spain. But when we searched the same address on Google maps, there was no indication of the business.
They could be using a fake address and even the Spanish language to fool people they are from Spain. One customer alleges that the site is stealing the identity of another legal business in Elche, Alicante.
Overall, Electrodoom.com has a high likelihood of being a scam. There are a lot of characteristics that overlap with what we see with other scams. The site has been up and running for a few months and the customers are already complaining.
Returning items bought on this site seems like an uphill battle getting in touch with customer support has been reported impossible. The site claims to be from Elche, Alicante, but we could not authenticate this nor could we locate them on the map.
While shopping from the website, caution is recommended otherwise you might be stuck with a product you don’t want or a damaged one.
